All In

Jersey City is my home. Not only the home that I was born to, but the home where I’ve chosen to remain. It’s a city full of purpose and promise. A city with unlimited potential and opportunity.

But 2020, in many ways, brought into sharp focus a reality that many of us have faced for decades – that opportunity is not given equally and, as progressive as Jersey City may be, we still have a long way to go. And that’s why I’m running to represent the Ward F communities on the Jersey City Council.

I want to be a voice for institutional change, to listen to my neighbors, hear your concerns, and understand your needs, to be open and accessible, transparent and accountable…. to be your voice in City Hall.

I’m excited for everything that we can do for Jersey City, together.

My guiding principle is fairness. In order for Jersey City to remain a premier mid-sized city, we need to create a new path. A path in which fairness is our City’s guiding principle. As our City Council Representative, I will respect the experiences of all Jersey City residents and will do my part to ensure that our city works to uplift the quality of life for everyone. Before I cast a vote, my singular focus will be…Is this fair?

The job of a Council Representative is to strengthen the community support systems that already exist, find pragmatic solutions to new problems, and ensure that the needs of everyone in our diverse community are met.

Vernon Richardson, Candidate for Ward F Council Representative

We can, and we must, do better.  We must do better to address the taxes and fees that burden middle- and low-income families. We must do better to change the conditions of our neighborhood schools.  We must do better to change policies that do not view parents, neighbors, churches, businesses, or other stakeholders as valued partners. We must do better by insisting on a comprehensive plan to invest in families and neighborhoods and to end the violence that plagues our communities. We can do this, together. This is my commitment and my promise to you. Please join us.
